Client Testimonial: Alexis Grae, daughter of Anna Coleman Caregiver: Vicki Trone
Vicki Trone of MY House Senior Living began working with Anna Coleman in January of 2008.
Anna is a victim of a DUI accident many years ago and is confined full-time to a wheelchair. Her right arm is paralyzed and she is unable to walk. Anna lives with her daughter in Tucson, AZ.
So that Anna can live as full a life as possible, with her family, Vicki comes to her home 5 days a week for a total of six hours a day.
Vicki assists Anna with personal hygiene, cleans her living area, cooks her meals, runs errands, and completes many “little projects” for Anna that she is unable to do for herself.
Most importantly, Vicki provides caring and supportive companionship for Anna. Vicki listens to her stories, looks at and helps sorts through photographs, rearranges her bedroom, oohs-and-ahs over her treasures, helps her to the bathroom, cleans her scrapes and bumps and puts clean band-aids on them to make sure no infections take hold.
Vicki asks Anna what she is eating and how much and ensures she has enough to eat and drink. Vicki laughs at her jokes and holds her hand when she is sad. Vicki washes her hair, combs and curls it, helps her get dressed appropriately for the day in the morning and puts her to bed in the evening in clean pajamas. Vicki does her laundry, carefully folding and hanging her clothes. Vicki mops up any spills and empties the trash. Anna’s room and house always smells fresh and clean. Anna is always clean and smells pleasant.
There are so many other little things that Vicki does for Anna that helps Anna remain in a pleasant and loving mood. Vicki helps her feel safe and loved, wanted and appreciated, valued and worthy.
As Anna’s daughter, MY House staff and management, especially Katie who is simply wonderful and mindful of my mother’s needs, and above all Vicki my mother’s primary care worker, allows me to have my mother in my home, and allows me to go to work every day. Knowing that someone is present for the times my mother needs someone the most, that my mother is cared for and looked after at those times that I cannot, to know my mother is safe and cared for in a very professional and caring manner means so much.
Vicki has become like part of the family, an integral part of the smooth functioning of our household.
